Coming to study in one of the major world cities brings with it many benefits, as well as life-altering experiences.  Studying in London is an exceptional experience which will provide you with unique memories.

Blake Hall College is located in a growing part of the city in Surrey Quays.  This beautiful part of South-East London is not far from trendy spots such as Greenwich Village and Bermondsey.  With very good transport links – most central locations only being a few stops away by bus or tube – you will have the opportunity to make the most of your time at Blake Hall College with the wonderfully youthful and fast-paced atmosphere that surrounds it.  However, you can also easily escape to our quiet study facilities and canteen, as well as strolling over to the lake next to Canada Water tube station to have your lunch, or take a break.  The beautiful Greenwich Park, (just a few stops away on the tube), also provides a haven for those that prefer to spend their free time relaxing and taking time out from the city.

Blake Hall College welcomes international students and we have accordingly ensured that we meet Home Office Visa requirements.  International students studying at our College will therefore be eligible to apply for Student Visas in order to enter or remain in the UK to further their studies.

Your Study Visa

To apply for a Student Visa you must enrol and be accepted on a course that will provide you with full-time student status. Upon acceptance, an enrolment letter will be issued to. This letter will be required for the visa application process.

Note however, that this serves as a guide, and it is always best to check all aspects of your application with Home Office.

To qualify for a student visa, you must be able to show that:

  • You have been accepted on a full-time course at an accredited institution.

  • That the course you are accepted for runs for at least 15 hours a week, and is comprised of daytime study.

  • You are able to support yourself (and any dependants), as well as covering the course fees.

  • You plan to leave the UK on completion of your course.

Whilst we recognise that there are various highly qualified immigration advisors in London, Blake Hall has developed a very good working relationship with the Breytenbachs Solicitors. For further information regarding obtaining a Student Visa, visit www.breytenbachs.com.

Further information can be found at the Home Office website.

Healthcare

Upon moving to London, you will need to register with a new local doctor.  The best way to do this is to go to  www.nhs.uk/servicedirectories/. This website provides you with search functions to locate your nearest surgery and other useful information about how to go about registering with a doctor, as well as detailing what is covered by the National Health Service (NHS).

One of the great advantages of coming to study in the UK from overseas, is that providing you register for a full-time programme lasting 6 months or more, you will be entitled to free health care.  As an International student you are therefore eligible for NHS treatment from a doctor free of charge as long as you are enrolled for a period of study for over six months at Blake Hall College.
